Nice Blog. My daughter especially liked reading the A Wrinkle In Time. I'm reading Runt Farm: Under New Management by Amanda Lorenzo to my younger kids now. It's a new book about a bunch of smart and funny animal characters that band together for an interesting adventure. It also has a lot of good topics for conversations with your kids. We're enjoying it alot!

Two all time favorites (Newbery Honor book & Newbery Medal winner) are A Long Way from Chicago & A Year Down Yonder by Richard Peck. I would read them to my 5th graders every year and they were always favorites (and I never got tired of reading them, either!)

I read the Narnia series of books to my kids. Later on they read them themselves and then went on to Tolkien's books.

A Wrinkle in Time was my first Madeleine L'Engle book and I read that in my 20s. I have really enjoyed almost all of L'Engle's other juvenile fiction books too. I agree w/ another comment, I love the Anne of Green Gables series and the Chronicles of Narnia. My son is almost 5 and I should start reading some chapter books aloud to him soon. Thanks for the reminder. :)

I am a middle school teacher. I frequently read Juvenile fiction because it is so much easier to listen to in the car. I often find that I will tune out adult books in the car and not realize that I haven't been listening for the past 10 min. Doesn't happen as much with juvenile books and when it does you don't get completely lost. Some of my favorites were Rules, Al Capone Does My Shirts, Eggs, and The Edge Chronicles. The Edge Chronicles are better read in book form. They are highly imaginative and have great illustrations.

When I was little I really enjoyed reading "The Phantom Tollbooth". I recently reread it and found that I still love it and it seemed even funnier to me now than it did before. It's really witty and actually has an easy to figure out moral, which I find rare in books (not to mention movies) these days.

You *must* read The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and The Tale of Despereaux, both by Kate DiCamillo. So so good, you'll be sad when they're over! You laugh and shed tears, too, the best kind of book. I also like Emmy and the Incredible Shrinking Rat. Seems like all I read is juvenile fiction these days!
