Thanks for this and the follow up tutorials. I wanted to make one of these to put on my red and gray car seat, so it could be a bit more girlie. Only took a couple hours to throw together. The straps are still long enough if you didn’t realize you purchased fabric that isn’t 41″wide.

Because every car seat is different, you just have to use your car seat to figure out the exact placement. Center them from right to left and the cover should be a little bit longer in the front than in the back. You just have to figure it out using your car seat. And sew them on. Good luck!

I made this, is so lovely, only thing I did different was add a thin peice of polyester wadding between the 2 main peices for a bit of weight and warmth (as I used a 100% cotton fabric), beautiful thanks!

That is a very cute print. I have seen these all over the web and decided to make one. A lot of people sell the patterns, so thank you for making it so accessible. I only wish I would have done it sooner, but it is so great for winter. It blocks out light when they are sleeping, wind when it’s blowing, and pesty and germy people in the store. :) The one I made is actually made of fleece and I only did it one layer for ease, but I like the double layer ones because it seems like they wouldn’t blow up as easily.

What is the length of the pieces for the straps, I am not totally clear on how to sew them, so that they become ties when looking at the picture. Thanks!

Good for you! Fleece is a great idea for winter and this project is lots easier than making a car seat bunting.

Adorable idea, I made one out of 2 layers of fleece for winter, since my baby is due this November. I made one strap for the center because I have a z-style handle. I loved it so much I made one for a friend that is due in January and I plan on making another one for myself out of cotton for the summer shade. I’d love to send you pictures, not sure how. Thanks for a great idea :)
