Nertz is our family’s favorite game by far. We learned from another family when I was in high school and have been playing ever since. The rules are simple, it just takes a little practice to get good since everyone is playing at the same time and things can get pretty craaazy.
Watch this short video to learn how to play.
And -16 + 3 is -13, not -15, so my final score would have been -13. Whoops.
You’ll want to sit on the floor in a circle or around a table so there is plenty of space in the middle for the Aces. I like to play on the carpet because it’s easier to pick the cards up, but sitting at a table is more comfortable – whatever you prefer as long as there’s room for everyone.
You can play with as many people as you want, as long as everyone has a deck with a different design – I prefer 3 or 4 people because it’s more manageable for my brain. If you have lots of people who want to play, Team or Double Nertz is perfect. The rules are a little bit different, so I’ll post video instructions on that a little later.
Teach your family how to play and you won’t be able to stop!

Nertz is a favorite of my family, too. We have been playing it for over thirty years – the more people the better. It does get a little crazy, but it is great for eye-hand coordination.
We love this game too. Its like speed solitare. It’s so much fun with lots of people.
Have you played Skip-bo? That is one of our family favorites too!
This is definitely our family’s favorite game to play as well.. My mom hates it though because it is too fast for her.
