Favorite Craft Magazines

I’ve never been much of a magazine person, but that has recently changed. I am now the proud owner of magazine subscriptions, and there are plenty of others that I check out from the library.

One of the reasons I have recently embraced magazines is Northridge Media. They are the creators of a handful of specialized crafting magazines that I absolutely love. Their style is my style, their interests are my interests. Where have you been all my life?

My top two favorites are Cards and Simply Handmade, although I love Scrapbook Trends also. I think these magazines are some of the best in the industry for one major reason – they have hardly any advertisements. There is a new and different idea on almost every single page! They have so few advertisements, they are really more like books than magazine and well worth their price.

Whenever I need to make a card, I flip to my Cards magazine, find something I like, and get to work! These magazines give me so many ideas, I rarely find myself not knowing what to do with the supplies in front of me.

And Simply Handmade is full of beautiful seasonal crafts of all kinds – fabric, paper, food, everything! I have the December issue, and I can’t wait until Christmas this year to use some of their fabulous ideas for decorations, ornaments, and gifts.

Simply Handmade has a blog – check it out to see some great ideas. And visit their Idea Gallery for more layouts, projects, and recipes.

Although I love reading magazines for ideas for crafting goodies; I have stopped all subscriptions until we are in the Stone House. I just don’t have the room to keep magazines right now, but when I do watch me go! LOL

I subscribe to Creating Keepsakes (it’s gotten better in the last couple months & they offered me a great deal). I also get Scrapbooks ETC (paid $6 for an entire year). Other than that I spend my money on supplies & browse blogs/galleries. Scrapbook Trends is great but even with a coupon it’s way too much money for me to spend

I have not heard of these magazines before but it is something that I would like to look into. I have some scrapbooking items but I feel intimidated because there is just so much stuff out there and I never have any good ideas.

I enjoy sending cards to people, and I think it would be really fun to make them. Thank you for sharing. These magazines may help me get over my fear of cardmaking/scrapbooking. :)

I love CARDS, but I wish they were not so expensive! Each issue is packed with awesome ideas! I always make cards. I rarely buy them and people get offended if I don’t give them handmade now! LOL!

I only subscribe to one magazine at this point, but I have been wanting to subscribe to some of the ones from Northridge Media for the longest time. I absolutely love the ideas, the colors, the awesome inspiration from some of the best project designers in the business. Now that you have reminded me of them, I will have to strategically put some hints out for my anniversary which is coming up in a couple of weeks, lol.

Thanks for all you do, I love your blog.

Oh, I LOVE reading craft magazines. Although I also go online for project ideas, there is nothing like sitting in bed with a stack of magazines! I use post-its to mark projects or ideas that I want to go back to. The problem is that there are way too many fun designs and projects for me to ever get around to.

I’ve thumbed through Cards magazine in the store and liked it but never bought one. Thanks for telling about Simply Handmade–I never heard of it but I did check out their blog and there is a lot of neat stuff there.

I love the Cards and Scrapbook Trends magazine but they are pricey. You can now subscribe to their online editions and see the pages and print if you like just like thumbing through your own magazine but for a much lower price. Simply Handmade and their idea books are there too. The Christmas Cards book looks awesome. I can’t wait to make some from their examples.
