Food Canister Decor

food canisters

I have some kitchen storage issues – the main problem is that we have no pantry. I have to use the tops of my cupboards as storage spaces, which doesn’t look very nice at all but I don’t have much of a choice.

I had all my baking supplies (flour, sugar, etc.) in one of my precious cupboards, but I had too many other things I needed to put in that space. The solution I have come up with is to make my food canisters prettier so I don’t mind having them visible.

I picked up some free icing buckets from a local grocery store, cleaned them out, Mod Podged some pretty paper around the front, and labeled them all with a giant vinyl letter.

The icing buckets are a perfect size and I didn’t mind the price tag either…cleaning them out wasn’t a big deal, and now I have 5 canisters for all my brown sugar, flour, oats, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar. I need to pick up some more buckets for wheat, beans, and rice, although I worry that those buckets filled up will be too heavy to get up and down. I suppose a good arm workout is nothing to be scared of…

What are some of your kitchen storage solutions?
