They're absolutely stunning, I love the one with the map. I love bound diaries but they're always so expensive and it always takes a while for them to feel like you own them and that they reflect your personality. I suppose if you've actually bound them yourself, they reflect you before you've even written in them.

My sister uses a binding machine for her scrapbooking and repairing my paperbacks and the like and her projects look great. But they do always look very formal.

Your books are beautiful! Once I try this, I just hope they turn out half as good looking. I really like the look of the double thread.

These are definitely works of art. I think I could attempt the Japanese stab binding but the coptic looks complicated.

Your books are amazing! My son learned to make books with a school he was in. He taught me how, but I forgot a lot. I would like to learn how to make the Coptic books. Can you use leather for a cover on them? I guess I'll start with the Japanese book until you get a tutorial.

You do need to use better quality paper than just printer paper. I would recommend Ingres, Mowhawk Superfine, or Arches Textwove for the textblock.

Coptics are hard cover, so they are fairly sturdy, although because it is an older style of making books, the binding isn't as tight as others. The spine is a bit loose, but I have many coptic books that I use on a regular basis and they work just fine.
You might want to experiment by making a small one first and see if you like it.

Let me know if you have any other questions! I'll get working on a coptic tutorial, although I can't promise it will be done very soon. Good luck!

Wow! These books are gorgeous! Your pictures make me want one as well as know how to make them. PLEASE do a tutorial soon! I'm thoroughly intrigued by the coptic books. I studied Publishing in college but we didn't get into the "how to make bindings" part - bummer! I wish we had!
