Goals for 2010
8 commentsNow that January is half over, I suppose it’s time I publish my goals for all the world to see. I’m going to be tracking my progress in my journal each week, so I hope to establish some new habits this year that will make me a better and happier person. Here are my goals for this year:
Intellectual Goals
- Go on a monthly family field trip.
- Finish 1 jean quilt.
- Learn to can meat and various vegetables.
- Learn to knit?
- Have story time at home once a week (Friday mornings).
- Read to kids 10-20 minutes every day.
Physical Goals
- Go to bed earlier. Get in bed at 10:30.
- Eat intuitively.
Service Goals
- Volunteer to provide meals for families in need.
- Send one card each week.
- Participate in humanitarian service efforts once a month.
Character Goals
- Be less sarcastic, more patient, and more kind in my words and thoughts.
Personal Goals
- Maintain a balanced checkbook and budget.
- Make my bed every day.
Whew! It looks like a long list but most of these things are pretty basic. Maybe I should be embarassed that I’m not already doing them…
I don’t have any Vanilla Joy goals – I love my readers and have lots of fun blogging but it’s not the most important thing in my life. I would actually like to spend more time this year with my family, so we’ll see how things go…
What are some of your goals for 2010?

my goals are to be more organized and keep up with the cleaning better. :) I think putting our goals out there into the world helps us acheive them!
Fantastic goals, especially the character ones. I could use some less sarcasm and more patience in my life, too. Thanks for the words I needed to recognize that.
I have a new goal to go on a date once a month without the kids since we are always doing family events. I would also like to keep my cool even when my 4 year old throws the biggest of tantrams.
We’re also trying to do better with dating. It’s so hard when you have kids! We haven’t been on our date yet this month and we only have 2 weekends left so thanks for the reminder!
I think your list is totally attainable. The bed-making thing is hard for me; it’s just so difficult knowing that I will be back in it in 12 hours.
Ooh, that reminds me! I haven’t made my bed yet today! (Rough night last night so we all slept in and had a weird morning…) Better go make it right now!
i like your goal list I think it is honest and easily obtainable
Great goals! I relate to the sarcastic part. I want to reach out to more real life friends.
