Jennifer, to answer your question about the easiest way to dip, I throw a handful of them in and pull them out one by one with a fork. The excess chocolate drips through the fork and then I scrape the bottom of the fork on the edge of the bowl to get off even more.

Enjoy!

3 c sugar
1 t vanilla
1 t almond extract
1 t nutmeg
Add:
4 eggs beaten well and slowly mix in
6-7 c flour

Dough will be stiff and dry like pie dough.
Roll out about 1/3" thick, cut into shapes.
Bake 10 m. or less at 400. Do not let edges

Thank you so much for the great recipe! I just have a quick question. What is the easiest way to dip these? Do you dip the front then the back? Please give me any tips you have. Thanks again.

Wow, I would have never thought of trying to make these myself. But now that you suggested it I will try it out because my daughter thinks that I only get cookies from the freezer and can't make them like her friend's mom with real butter. Love your site so I am signing up right now! How fun are you?!

Our 3y/o son is going through 2 distinct phases right now. One is that he loves to help with things, such as helping to prepare food. The other phase is that he begs for animal cookies with icing every day.

I had never thought about us making our own, but I bet he will like them twice as much (if that's possible) if we let him help mix the dough and add the sprinkles :)

I made these over the weekend using your recipe because my hubby and kids are huge fans. I was suprised at how much they actually do taste like the real thing. They were a big hit. I just found your blog and will definetly become a follower. I hope you don't mind me linking to this post from my blog. Thanks!!
