We bought this WONDERFUL laundry basket from Target:

http://www.target.com/Home-Niches-Dual-Pop-Up-Hamper/dp/B001TK0GB8/sr=1-1/qid=1248230850/ref=sr_1_1/189-5822392-4385801?ie=UTF8&search-alias=tgt-index&frombrowse=0&pricerange=&index=target&field-browse=1038576&rh=k:laundry%20sorter,p_36:$0-$24&page=2

It folds down flat and its easy to carry, plus one side is black and the other white so there is no confusion as to where to put the dark or lights!

Good tips, Focus on to how you dry off your baby garments to keep away from shrinking them. Use a low or gentle heat temperature, or else you may discover soon that your baby outgrows them even quickly than you expect!

I do the presorting in my closet as well. It seriously cuts down on my laundry time. I love knowing when I have enough clothes to do a load instead of having to sort through all that nasty dirty laundry only to figure out you don't have enough to do a colors batch... ughhh... I hate laundry!!

I also hate having my laundry detergent cap all sticky so I throw it right into the washing machine and it comes out perfectly clean when the load is done!

What a great tip. I will have to remember this when my baby is born this fall.

One thing that really helps our laundry is that each bedroom has multiple laundry baskets on the floor of the closet. One for whites, one for darks and one for colors. We taught the kids (age 6 & 4) to sort when they first started dressing themselves and they still do it, so when I need to do laundry, I just grab the basket of what I'm doing and go. It also makes it easier to see when I have enough for a load. When a basket is a full load by itself, it's already half sorted when it comes out of the dryer.

That's a good tip, especially since a friend of mine had to have her washer repaired when a baby sock got sucked into the drain pump.

I tend to sprinkle the laundry inside the drum with baking soda and then add vinegar as the fabric softener. It works great with cloth diapers.
