I am a professional organizer servicing the Utah Valley and Salt Lake Valley areas. You, Vanilla Joy, attended one of my organizing classes 2 1/2 years ago. It looks like you have really grown in your organizing capabilities since then. GOOD FOR YOU!
When organzing a craft room, I suggest to my clients they try to keep their containers in the same color category AND/OR type category as much as possible. It gives the organized space a designer look. The other thing I strongly sugggest when organizing is to keep 15% of your space empty. It gives the look of abundance. Enjoy the organizing process!

SAMS Club has this great trail mix with different pretzels and crunchy salty snacks. However, I secretly buy it, for the container. It's tall and skinny. So far it makes a perfect spaghetti holder (because I buy mine in bulk and don't use it often I need a larger container and it's perfect). It also makes a great container for rice, cereal, candy, anything really. Because it's tall and skinny it fits wonderfully into the cabinet without taking up so much room.

Love the tips. I'm starting to get organized, because I'm completely overwhelmed with work, kids, on-line college, and hubby dearest. So, everything I get comes in handy. I love the idea of boxes and jars. It does make everything look more organized, plus there's no question as to what the contents are.

I thought I'd share mine as well. Today....I took an idea off of another website and kind of reinvented it to fit my needs. I've been wanting an organizer board for my daughters room. She's four, so it has to be cute and girly. So I took some of her old jeans that she can't wear and I cut the legs off just enough to make a pocket by sewing together where I cut them. Then I took a box and cut it into pieces. I used one of the big sides and covered it with a thick cotton t-shirt that I don't use anymore. Then I took the little pieces and covered them with another color cotton t-shirt (same thickness). I hot glued all of this. Then I hot glued the jean pockets, that I made from her jeans, onto the smaller card boards. I took elastic and made the smaller card board pieces look like they had backpack handles (that's the easiest way for me to describe it). This away I didn't have to adhere them to the bigger board I just wrapped the elastic around the bigger board.

The elastic gives me place to clip all her hair barretts and the pockets also give me a place for her hair brush and ties. Also, there was enough pockets for all her pencils, pens, markers and paints. The material also makes it ideal for using it as a push pin area, but that will come when she's older and I let her use them.

I actually use baby food jars to keep the tinny little scrapbooking things. You can even decorate them.

I keep all of my pickle jars/spaghetti jars... my husband thinks I'm silly. I also like to keep the tall skinny plastic containers that the crystal light mixes come in. They're great to have!

Thanks for all the ideas! If you don't have a label maker, you can just get adhesive paper and put it in your printer. Not quite as fun, but would still do the job, although I think you can get label makers for around $10 at Office Depot/Staples.

And spaghetti sauce jars are a great idea as well. For a while, my favorite jam was coming in wide mouthed glass jars, which were great for organizational use after finishing off the jam. They've gone back to the narrow mouth jars, but they're still useful. Great idea.

Thanks!

Happy Anniversary!! Mine was on the 17th :)

I'm in dire(sp?) need of a label maker. I think if I had one I would be even more organized. As of right now I use a lot of plastic totes and little cubbies.

I have a dresser that I painted for in my scraproom. Two of the drawers are FULL of spools of ribbon. I have them all on end so you can easily see all of the ribbons. All of the ribbon storage ideas that I have seen are very cute and inventive but not nearly big enough too house all of my ribbon!!I must be a little on the obsessive side ...you think???

Happy Anniversary!!!!

I LOVE empty jars!!! I save my spaghetti sauce jars...they are mason jars and work fantastic with storing my ribbon! I also have a spice rack and love it....still don't have enough room for all the brads!hahaha I am cleaning and repainting a dresser I just bought at a yard sale. I was planning on putting it in my closet to store seasonal decorations, but may have to repurpose it! ahahaha

I have a lttle 18 drawer storage unit from the hardware store that holds nuts and bolts I believe. I use it to hold chipboard letters. It makes it easy to pull out the letters I need. It's not very pretty though, may have to paint or decorate it somehow!!!

Great ideas! I am hoping I will be lucky enough to win the Mini Box, but if not I may have to try to find an old dresser at a garage sale that I can make pretty!
