Outdoor Fun for Toddlers – Golf Tee Nails

A hammer and some nails would really be a boatload of fun in the hands of a toddler boy…but that’s a recipe for holes in unwanted places and smashed thumbs.

Our solution to the hammer hunger is a toy hammer and some golf tees. My boys love to sit in the grass and nail away. The “nails” come out easily and they’re not too sharp so this game is usually not dangerous.

Unfortunately we have misplaced our second hammer…we usually need about 5 because all the neighbor kids want to play too!

And I can sit in my umbrella chair and read my book undisturbed. That’s really what this is all about…

This was a popular activity at my son’s preschool! Except since they were indoors they used an upside down shoebox or a very thick piece of foam. Hammers are popular toys and we’ve misplaced a few over the years! Enjoy your reading!!

Foam/cardboard is a great idea! They always want to do it in the house and I hadn’t thought of either of those house-friendly options. Thanks for the tip!

Never thought of this–great idea–now to find the plastic hammers!
