I have been looking for a better way to store my knitting needles and crochet hooks. It seems I am always digging around in my craft drawers looking for them and often end up buying a new set because I didn't know I already had the size I need for a project and end up with multiple of the same size.

Michelle, that's a very good idea. After I finished writing up the tutorial last night I was carrying my case upstairs and my needles did fall out. Thanks for the suggestion!

Very elegant looking, no one would ever guess the placemat was $1! If you're like me, and always opening your knitting needle roll upside down, you might want to put a teeny flap on the top edge, too, so your needles don't fall out.
