Remember Jigglers?

Yesterday was crazy. Elliot’s first day of kindergarten AND

Linus’s first birthday!

AND I promised Elliot we could have a reading party when he finished reading lessons. He finished last week and I thought it would be easier to have the reading party and the birthday party the same day. I had big plans for the combo party but had to simplify or lose my mind!

Instead of doing a big fancy birthday cake (he’s 1…he didn’t get any presents either. Poor baby…) we did almond poppyseed cupcakes (from Our Best Bites, sooooo yummy) and instead of doing Toy Story themed cupcakes for the reading celebration like I had wanted to we did…JIGGLERS!

Remember jigglers? Is it just me or did we used to have jigglers all the time and now we never do?!? I have some very fond memories of my grandmother making us jigglers and all of us sucking them through our teeth and making my grandfather nearly vomit. He hated it! We loved it…

I admit I still like jello. Sometimes a bowl full of jello and real whipped cream just hits the spot. And jigglers are much more fun. Any number of color and shape/theme possibilities. And what is more fun than a written Jello Jiggler message for a new reader. NOTHING!

The jiggler recipe is obviously on the box, but just to prove to you how easy and perfect jigglers can be for a last minute party treat:

Combine 2.5 cups boiling water with 2 – 6 oz. packages of jello. Stir 3 minutes or until dissolved. Chill.

This totally saved my life today. Elliot loved it, he had fun reading his message and eating those slimy little jigglers!

How do you think about jigglers? Love? Hate???
