Story Time Tip

reading together with kidsIn the last 5 weeks, I’ve spent a lot of time nursing. To keep my busy 2 year old at bay while I am unavailable, we read. I’ve discovered that having my 2 year old hold the book is not only necessary, but much better for our time reading together.

When he holds the book, he often lingers on certain pages long after I’ve finished reading the words. He is looking at the pictures and sometimes talking about them or asking questions. When I was holding the book, I read and turn the page so we can get through the book!

Next time you sit down to read with your toddler, let him hold the book so he can be in control of the speed. It’ll probably take longer to get through the book, but what’s the rush?!?
