When strawberries are on sale or ripe for the u-picking, we love to make freezer jam! Here’s our latest recipe:

Reduced Sugar Freezer Fruit Spread

4 c. finely chopped or crushed strawberries
2 c. sugar
2 T. lemon juice
1/2 c. Ultra Gel

Combine crushed fruit, sugar, and lemon juice in medium bowl. Gradually add Ultra Gel, stirring constantly. Let stand 5 mnutes to thicken and stir until smooth. Package, label, date, and freeze for up to seix months.

Yield: 5 cups

About how many pounds makes up 4 cups? And do you know what a good price for jars is?

Does this recipe just make the jam less sweet and more like eating the fruit ripe? If it taste similar to the 4 cups of sugar recipe than I would definitely try it because we love this stuff at our house!
