MY REVIEW

Even though we have a house full of boys, we still love a play kitchen!

My boys are in the kitchen helping me a lot, and we all think it’s fantastic for them to have their own kitchen to play and pretend in. You might think a play kitchen would be less messy than a real kitchen – most of the time that’s not true. These are two messy cooks!

But it’s fine because there is plenty of room in this sprawling kitchen for these two to cook and play and pretend and eat as messily as they like.

One of their favorite things so far is the little “ordering window.” They take turns placing their orders and there is surprisingly little one the menu for a play kitchen. I’ve tried to order some of my favorite things to be told that I have to order grilled cheese, pancakes, or hot cocoa. Okay! Maybe we’ll have to have some cooking lessons for my not-so creative cooks…


The other favorite thing is the spinning spice rack – this kitchen comes with plenty of dishes and cooking tools including a set of spice jars! They fit nicely in this little carousel that spins and spins, making it super easy and fun to make sure that pretend food is seasoned and delicious.

I’m getting used to cinnamon on my grilled cheese, it’s really quite good.

Step2 is our first brand choice for kid’s products for a few reasons – the plastic is super durable and sturdy. We have tried many many Step2 products over the years and they are consistently high quality and long lasting, even when used outside in the sun and rain.

Our second favorite thing about Step2 products are the bright colors. This play kitchen is a great example of a high quality, functional make-believe toy that is colorful and bright and mimics the tools and products we moms/adults use in real life.

The Creative Cooks kitchen is full of great features and it has tons of storage – that’s my favorite thing about it…There are those four little orange tubs for storage plus a recycling bin and another white tub, all with perfect little cubbies to fit into. There’s hooks for hanging utensils and even a dish cupboard above the fridge. Plus the microwave, stove, fridge, freezer, and sink!

  34. I love the one you are giving away – the creative cooks. My boys have a REALLY small play kitchen that we have had for years and they still play with, but since it is so small, it is hard for them to play together with it. I know they would enjoy this one SO much more.

  62. I think this kitchen you reviewed looks like the best…honestly! I have been wanting to get my daughter a play kitchen for her birthday or Christmas (she’ll be 3 in Nov.) and I have been researching them online quite a bit lately. I narrowed down my search to the Step 2 brand quickly, because we have some of their other toys, and it’s just like you say – they have high quality products that are incredibly durable and that I trust. I really like Step 2 and their company values – I mean, look at this kitchen – it even has a recycling bin! And although all their kitchen sets look fantastic, I wanted something larger for my daughter that she could play with her cousins or friends without getting cramped. Well I found a picture of this particular kitchen on the TRU site and Googled more about it…and I found your site! So first I gotta say thanks because your pictures are great and you captured some details I didn’t see in the other pictures I found…your review seriously just sold me this kitchen (great job!). I was actually thrilled to see pics of your sons playing with it because I am confident now that this is something my little one will continue to play with for a few years. My search is over! I definitely want to get her this kitchen!

  104. Definitely the Grand Walk-In. It reminds me of a kitchen in a home I designed a few years ago. My daughter would have a blast whipping up some “meals” for her Daddy and I! :D

  105. I love the new Fresh Market Kitchen. My son loves to cash registers and playing with the card swipers when we are out shopping! The Fresh Market kitchen also has lots of space for multiple kids to play.

  116. My kids (ages 18 mo & 3 yrs) favorite is the Creative Cooks kitchen. When they saw the pictures of it, they asked to put it on their Christmas list. They think that they get the kitchen, plus a dog with it!
