I made this Japanese stab book for my friend as a bridal shower gift – not as racy as a typical bridal shower gift, but still romantic and weddingy since I’m going to tell her it’s a book to write down her thoughts and feelings about her wedding day, her love for her new husband to remember when things get rough, and her new life as a married woman.

I am a church youth leader for young women ages 14 and 15. I taught the lesson at church this last Sunday and as part of my lesson I gave them these little soft cover Japanese stab books to use as journals to record their thoughts and feelings about their membership in our church.

I took a bookbinding class in college and that class was my top favorite. We learned how to make four different books, clamshell boxes, and how to decorate paper using walnut ink and paste. My teacher was such an inspiration – she helped me develop a deep love for making books and boxes.
