MY REVIEW
The dedication in this book is “To all crafters and artisans, who keep valued traditions alive.”
I love that.
That’s exactly what this book does – it gives step by step instructions on so many techniques and projects that most people just don’t know how to do anymore. That’s why we all love Martha Stewart, because she modernizes classic handmade skills and teaches them to all of us.
This book is truly an encyclopedia of her years of work and teaches a fabulous variety:block printing, botanical pressing and printing, calligraphy, candlemaking, clay, decoupage, etching, gilding, marbleizing, mosaics, origami, quillint, rope crafts, rubber stamping, silkscreening, soap making, tin punching, wirework, and so much more.
My first project from this book was making my own fabric-punched flowers that were so easy.
I’ll be using my fabric-punched flowers to embellish some frames that will eventually have silhouettes inside, another project from the book {pictured above}.
To make the fabric-punched flowers, make a fabric stiffener by using equal parts glue and water, brush over the fabric, let dry, and cut flowers using paper punches. I’ll be hot glueing an assortment of them to my frame and I am really looking forward to the finished product!
The photo above shows projects from the book: sand candles, punched floral barettes, gilded eggs, fabric-punched flowers, marbleizing techniques, and marbleized pencils.
{Martha Stewart craft products included in this giveaway}
There are photos aplenty, instructions for hundreds of projects, appendixes with tools and materials suggestions, basic techniques (wrapping a gift box, tying a box, etc.), and templates. The tools section includes many different products that you can find in the Martha Stewart line by EK Success and they’re the best of the best!
Thanks so Martha Stewart and her team for writing it all down and to Randomhouse, and EK Success for sponsoring this giveaway.
