The Joel Dewberry winner is Ashley! She said, “I think I like the Citrine colorway best, but they’re all beautiful. And the patterns – they look fabulous, too! I think I like the vintage flatter dress or the hobo bag the best out of those.”

Send an email to kelseyatvanillajoydot com BEFORE MONDAY to claim your prize.

THE PRIZE

One reader will win a fat quarter set of the new Heirloom collection from Joel Dewberry (Sapphire colorway) AND his 5 new patterns (Empire Maxi Dress, Vintage Flatter Dress, Junior Meadow Spirit Skirt, Meadow Spirit Skirt, and Inflight Hobo Bag)!

MY REVIEW

AV2_Lilac_image_pretext

I first fell in love with Joel Dewberry’s Aviary 2 line in Lilac – every time I went into my local quilting store I stood in front of it for a few minutes wishing I had a reason to buy it all. I have come to a place in my quilting life that reason no longer is a factor. Whew.

After Heirloom came out, I decided I loved it even more – so feminine and bright and classic and modern all at the same time, and I just LOVE the colors. Sapphire, Ruby, and Citrine – well named also.

I had the pleasure of working with the Sapphire color way and after I designed a little pattern with Electric Quilt 7 I got to work and just finished up last night.

Excuse my hubby’s silhouette in the background and the slightly washed out colors (better pictures coming soon)…I finished the top and can’t quite make my severely pregnant body move around well enough to get down on the floor and baste it to quilt. Soon…as soon as this baby decides it’s time is up!

I wanted large squares to really showcase the fabric, and I love this general pattern that I’ve seen many times before. I made this one up as I went and I used a flannel sheet on the wall to help me with the design process – can I just say that’s the most brilliant idea ever! Designing a quilt on the wall is SO MUCH EASIER than doing it on the floor…

You can’t really go wrong with these prints though – beautiful colors and prints and they all go so well together. I am very happy with how this one turned out. (The green and pink polka dot is Michael Miller Ta-Dot, love that collection too.)

Also included in this giveaway package are all 5 patterns in Joel Dewberry’s new pattern line. I LOVE that Empire Maxi Dress and am seriously considering getting this pattern for myself and making that dress as soon as my body is back to normal. The matching mother/daughter skirt patterns are too cute also…if only I had daughters! They’re all great patterns and…love the fabric choices!

I love Joel Dewberry’s designs (pictured are Modern Meadow and Manzanita), and I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next!
