MY REVIEW

I have fond memories of learning to ride a bike, and teaching Elliot to ride has been something I’ve looked forward to. Elliot is making quick progress thanks to Trek!

trek jet 16 boys bike training wheels

Elliot’s bike is a Trek Jet 16 and it’s the perfect beginner bike with sturdy training wheels,  comfortable seat, grippy handle bars, and plenty of reflectors. It’s light weight enough that Elliot can maneuver it easily by himself and won’t get stuck if he does fall over, and it’s a nice smooth ride so he’s comfortable on the road. Just look at his face – he’s having a blast!

trek kids bike

Trek kid’s bikes are great because they’re designed to grow  with the child. Elliot is tall for his age so we got the 4-6 bike so he could grow into it. Even though it’s a little big, he still can ride comfortably and reach the pedals and everything. Trek has designed bikes to match a child’s physique and stature just right.

The Jet 16 is a basic bike with a single speed and coaster brakes. The training wheels can be removed and the seat raised, and I’m sure it will last through the use of several children.  Also it looks very cool. We love the sporty red and white or the Jet 16 also comes in a metallic blue and white combo as well.

Boyd put it all together in an evening and we had about 8 neighbor kids standing around totally enthralled with this super cool bike.

I love the range of Trek products – they’ve got bikes for all ages and stages and you get good quality for the price. Quality is important for a first bike and the Jet 16 is easy to ride and learn on.

We love bike riding as a mode of transportation, recreation, and exercise, and thanks to Trek, Elliot can ride along with us safely and have a great time!

  2. I’d love to get this for my son as incentive. We’re having a hard time getting him to learn to pedal his “big wheel” bike though his friends are all experts at it. However, he’s obsessed with bikes and I think this would be the nudge that would work- a promise of the bike to come if he would spend some time working at it.

  3. I would love to win this for my little boy. Since my husband was laid off 18 months ago, things are incredibly tight and a bike has just not been in our budget. Love to surprise him with this.

  14. We were actually going to give the boys bikes for Christmas this year but didn’t really know where to start looking for one! This bike looks perfect for my 5 and 3 year olds! They would absolutely love it! What a great bike!

  15. I have been looking for a new bike for my 7yo. He still rides his small bike and it is just tooo small. He had another one for his size and age but he didnt like it because the middle was too high. These appear to have a “lower” middle and may be what I’m looking for but the price is very out of my budget. Winning one would be great!

I would love to be able to be an example and show my daughter that riding a bike is so much more fun than watching tv or playing video games. I want her to appreciate the wonders of outdoors and the benefits of fun exercise.

  18. We are a biking family. My husband and I each have two bikes and we have 2 bike trailers to pull our two kids. My son is 4 and getting old enough to start learning how to ride a bike so we can make room to pull one more child in the trailers. Both my husbands bikes are Treks. My son needs a Trek like his daddy.

  19. I would love to win this for my oldest daughter. She’ll be 4 next week and wants a bike so badly. She is adopted and has fetal alcohol syndrome- she has lots of behavior problems and some learning issues, but she her gross motor skills are amazing! She loves to talk about how big she’s getting and how strong she is and how she’s eating protein to get muscles :). We’ve looked for a used one and can’t find one that would be good for her- she would be overjoyed to receive this. Thanks! (Oh, her name is Gabi- it’s really “Gabriella Joy” but she’ll tell you that it’s “Gabi-yellow Joy.” Precious, huh? :)

  26. Why I should win: because we’re currently saving our pennies to buy our kids their first bikes for Christmas (we’ve got a 6 year old and a 4 year old). This would be a HUGE help out with that!

  27. I would love to win this bike for my son. We can only afford inexpensive bikes and they keep falling apart! Maybe he would get good at riding without training wheels if he had a quality bike.

  28. I really don’t have a good reason as to why I should win. I know my little one would love it and it looks like a pretty safe bike to learn to ride on. I’m a safety crazed mom and if we got his bike, I would then just need to purchase a bike helmet too.

  29. I don’t think my son “deserves” this bike more than the next kid (Because EVERY kid should have an awesome bike like this! What child wouldn’t LOVE it?!) My son is only 18 months-old, but he already points at every bike that rides down our street or that we pass on our walks or in the stores, and yells “bike!” So I can only imagine how excited he’d be to have his very own “bike!” Thanks!
