Did you know summer brain drain is a real thing? That lots of kids lose one to two months of reading and math skills over the summer?
Not in my house they won’t!
We are trying to foster a year round learning culture in our family and a love for learning in general. We love reading and read a lot of traditional print books and we also got a little book of science experiments we’re doing a few times a week to keep our brains working and learning and to reinforce that learning is fun, science is FUN!
Along with traditional books and hands on activities, my kids LOVE technology. What kid doesn’t?
We got to try out the VTech InnoTab2S and it’s been a HUGE hit.

It’s super sturdy with protective rubber corners, fun sound effects, brightness control, and it’s really easy and fun for kids to use. It’s been great for my 4 year old to practice his hand-eye coordination and problem solving and he loves trying out different games and activities.
The movie/tv show themed game cartridges come with a several reading, learning games, and creative activities with the cartoon characters they love and it’s a great way to add some fun learning time in with the traditional stuff. It’s also a great reward – my kids quickly do their chores and reading, they know they get to play on the InnoTab when they’re finished!
We plan to bring it with us on road trips to fight boredom in the car and keep their little brains and hands busy and working.
