MY REVIEW

SUSAN BATES velocity circular knitting needles

I love knitting on circular needles – I love going around and around and around…it’s totally therapeutic for me.

My most recent circular needle project is this hat, and I used these Susan Bates Velocity circular knitting needles. They’re made with nickel plated brass which makes them super slick and quiet too. They are called Velocity because they have a super smooth joint and are supposed to help you knit faster, and I’m a believer.

For my hat, I’m using a wool bulky yarn on size 8 needles, which could have been very slow going, but that bulky and coarse yarn just slides so smoothly and easily over these needles. I have to be careful my stitches don’t slip right off the end!

SUSAN BATES velocity circular knitting needles

Each pair of Velocity circular knitting needles are stamped with the US and metric size. Lots of double pointed and circular knitting needles don’t say the size anywhere on the needle, and I love that these do. I don’t like having to guess…And the cord is a deep purple that is just lovely.

Velocity 16″ circular needles range in size from 1 – 10.5 and in price from $11 – $13.50. They come in lengths of 16″, 29″, and 40″.

I just like how these feel in my hands. They’re comfortable to hold and make my knitting fast and fun! Thanks Susan Bates!

I would love some circular needles. I have one pair, so an additional set in a bigger size would be great. How about a size 8.

2 Amanda April 19, 2010 at 9:45 pm

These look very cool I am not sure on the size lets say 7 :)

I’m loving these needles. I’m a new knitter and have knit on the plastic needles and the wood (bamboo?). I would love to have a set of these and they do look like they would be wonderful to knit on. I’d love the 7′s or the 10.5′s. The 7′s would be for a snowman set I’m dying to try and the 10.5′s would be for a baby blanket – it would make it a little bit larger because of the size. Lovin’ it!

I would love the 7, being a stay at home mom of three infants/toddlers it’s a tad difficult to volunteer, however I love making things to help welcome our soldiers home from overseas.

Thanks for such a wonderful giveaway. I’d choose the size 9 for a scarf in my queue.

30 Taylor April 21, 2010 at 7:57 am

I would love size 7, that seems to be what I use the most and love them for kids hats!

31 jana April 21, 2010 at 11:39 am

I use circular needles for all my projects and I could really use some size 7s! I’d probably make baby hats with them!

32 Rebecca April 21, 2010 at 12:19 pm

I’m planning on knitting a shrug…I just bought a dress that is begging to be worn with one!

33 Heather Hughes April 21, 2010 at 12:24 pm

I have never seen a set of needles quite like these, or heard of them….they look pretty easy to use, even for someone like me!

34 Sandie Russo April 21, 2010 at 3:49 pm

I would like the size 7 needles with a 29″ length. I do a lot of magic loop knitting and these would be perfect.

I do mostly charity knitting and would love to have a size 9 16″ circular needle. I’m right now working on a shrug and using some plastic straights and I hate them. The loops create a shadow and it’s hard to work the project.I just signed up for your newsletter so looking forward to getting it.

39 Cheryl April 22, 2010 at 5:39 am

I only use circular needles! My favorite size is 7 but I need a size 10 or larger for a fun fur scarf I a making with yarn I got for my birthday.

40 Robin April 22, 2010 at 12:50 pm

I pretty much only use circs and the most used is size 7. I’ve only used bamboo before. I usually make hats.
Thanks!

Ah! I’d be honored to win just one of these needles, let alone all 4.

These would come at a perfect time for me because in teaching my roommate how to knit, I lent her a bunch of my 16″ circs, and she accidentally broke some of them, including the size 8 and 9 circs :( :( :(

I’d definitely want the size 8 circulars the most, given my current lack of them, and given the fact that I LOVE making hats and 8 is always my go-to size for hats.

If I won, I’d make “Robot Hat” by Margaret Sharp on Ravelry (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/robot-hat-2), for my brother’s upcoming birthday.

I would like to win the 16″ needles, fav size 8 or 9. I make lots of hats and knit the sleeves to most sweaters in the round. Hate seaming and finishing.
