It all begins with fabric, doesn’t it?

This is the fabric I chose for baby boy #3, whom we shall call Sharky. (My sister also has a fetus named Sharky. We tried to give him another name, but my boys wouldn’t have it.)

The fabric is Michael Miller (of course!) It’s an older line, but one of my all time boy favorites. It’s just so…BOY! And still bright and fun. It’s a combination of the Groovy Guitar and some Lagoon prints.

I find that using paint chips to help me sort out room decor colors is most helpful. So I grabbed colors to match the fabric from Sherwin Williams (plus 50 more for other rooms/projects, hope they don’t mind…).

I keep these in my purse at all times so when I find something I like, I can know if it’s just the right shade of green.

And by the way, I have two REALLY CUTE ideas for decor for this room. I hope to finish them up in the next month or so, will be sharing then.

Here’s Sharky’s quilt. I’ll also be making a crib bumper and bed skirt with the fabric. The walls are a light grey, and I love it all together!

I’m thinking about these colors for my bathroom. We painted the walls the same grey as the baby’s room, and we have honeyish colored towels that I want to keep. So I’m thinking maybe orange and berry colored accents? If that doesn’t work out, I think I’ll scrap the yellow and orange and just go with grey and berry/plum. I like that better but we already have the honey towels…decisions, decisions!

And just so you know how much I love blues and greens, these are the colors of our bedroom. Plus lots of white. Mostly white with a bit of these here and there. Like this:

How do you go about choosing colors for room decor?

I’ll keep you posted on the progress in the nursery!
