MY REVIEW

I LOVE to sew and if I have a pattern, I can sew almost anything (at least anything that I’ve tried so far…) with at least moderately pleasing results…

The patterns are the problem.

I see all of you in the blogosphere sewing amazing things by tracing an old item of clothing, and that’s just not how I roll. I need a pattern and I’m sick to death of the big name pattern companies because they just don’t have patterns for the kinds of garments I want to sew!

So I went looking online for cute patterns for children’s clothing using knit fabric.

And I found Fishsticks Designs.

Her patterns are exactly what I was looking for. If I had dreamed up something specific and custom, her shop would have been it exactly.

On her about page she says, “most of my patterns are sewn with cotton knit fabrics because that is exactly the fabric that most of us live our lives in.” YES!!!

I want to sew garments my children will love to wear every day, things that are durable, washable, comfortable. Fishsticks patterns are all of these things!

Here are a few favorite Fishsticks patterns that I’ve made (the Dino Dudes fabric is Michael Miller – LOVE IT!):

Underwear, jammies, hoodies – this is what we live in and wear every day and my boys are absolutely loving wearing the fabrics/prints they have chosen.

Each pattern can be purchased as a paper or PDF printable pattern. The printable versions are very easy to put together, each pattern includes with several sizes and garments styles/variations, and every single pattern I made took less than 1 hour. They’re quick, easy, and so perfect for my kids!

Each pattern also comes with easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions with color photos for every step so even the most inexperienced sewist could tackle one of these patterns and turn out a successful garment.

I am so thrilled to have found Fishsticks and these patterns – they are perfect for my kids and for me!
