Scrapbooking with Smaller Pictures

I’ve recently fallen in love with collages on Picasa. I hope you all know about Picasa, because it’s wonderful. You can edit photos (like in Photoshop, only much more basic and easy), share “web albums” with friends and family that preserve the original picture quality, and lots more. You can download Picasa for free and they come out with new version every so often with more and better features, like collages.

So I’ve been making collages like crazy, and maybe I’m daft for not thinking of this sooner, but you can also print your collages! Duh. I’ve always looked at scrapbooking magazines with all those tiny pictures and wondered how they did it. Cropping, sure, but I think they also have non-standard picture sizes as well. I was racking my brain trying to figure out how they did it, and a week or two ago it hit me that I could print my collages to get smaller pictures in lots of different sizes. Brilliant!

Here are a few I’ve done recently:

I love that I can now fit way more pictures on my 8 1/2″ x 11″ pages and I can arrange them in so many more and different ways. What size photos do you like working with, and how do you print them?

I like 5X7 or 3X6 photos I also like to crop them and layer them on different paper to give them a unique look!

I print a couple of photos on 4×6 prints to save money! I usually do it in photoshop. I love being able to fit a lot of photos on a page!!

I used Picasa for making our Christmas photo…a collage that I included in our Christmas cards. Very affordable, bc you only pay for the print. I made each one look like a photo with a white border and scattered them.

I usually do 4×6, but I love dedicating one larger picture to an entire page, too. I actually have a home printer which I found works really well!

I had not heard of Picasa until I saw your blog for the first time today. It sounds like I need to go check it out! I use Walgreens and pick up prints or order special photo products (like photo books) from Kodak Gallery. I haven’t started experimenting with photo size yet…

I love Picasa! I have had a lot of fun using it for the collages too. I love the 12 x 12 scrapbooks so I can use an assortment of photos on one page. I have to admit, however, that I am going to try digital scrapbooking now!

Wow! Thank you so much for introducing me to Picas! It’s so easy to figure out, I also always wondered how they print the pictures smaller. This is great!
