in Giveaways

{The winner of the Sport-Brella is Gina Loggins! She said, “Perfect! I have a 2month old and a 3 year old and we enjoy the outdoors daily. This would be a fatastic addition to help keep the baby girl shaded and allow the big girl some shade time in between playing in the sun.”

Congratulations! You’re going to love the Sport-Brella. Email your address to kelsey[at]vanillajoy[dot]com BEFORE WEDNESDAY to claim your prize. Thanks!}

I love summer! Except when there’s no shade to sit in outside…fortunately, shade is portable with today’s giveaway!

THE PRIZE

sportbrella weather shield

SKLZ will be giving the Sport-Brella ($69.99) to one lucky reader!

MY REVIEW

As most of you know, we just had a new baby come to our house! For the past few weeks I’ve been thinking about how I’m going to get my 2 year old outside to play and keep my newborn out of the sun at the same time. We live in a town home with a huge grassy common area, but no shade, and the Sport-Brella is just what I was looking for!

Here are some of my favorite things about the Sport-Brella:

  • It folds up very compactly, fits in a carrying case, and is lightweight to carry
  • It sets up in less than a minute
  • It protects you from sun, wind, and rain (so not just for summer)
  • It opens up to 7′ wide, big enough to fit the whole family
  • It has zippered windows for ventilation
  • It is super stable and can be set up in several different positions

1

We have already used this a ton – because it is so quick and easy to set up, we put it in the common area so baby and I are in the shade while my toddler plays. It’s so nice to be outside without getting too hot and sunburned. I can also carry it with me to our neighborhood park because it is so light. The Sport-Brella is going to keep us pasty white all summer long!

Besides being great for those days at the park, beach, or baseball games, the Sport-Brella would be a great item for a 72-hour kit or to keep with your camping/emergency preparedness gear. In a pinch, the Sport-Brella would provide more than adequate shelter from the elements and keep you and your family dry and protected.

If you have kids who like to be outside, the Sport-Brella is the perfect solution! Thanks, SKLZ!

I would use this at the beach. I hate baking in the sun but love going to the beach. Plus this would allow great sand building play for my toddler while being shaded.

2 Denise~Paper Ponderings June 1, 2009 at 6:42 am

This would be perfect for baseball games! I think I need this!!!

3 Christian June 1, 2009 at 7:07 am

awesome, what wouldn’t i use it for?! it is perfect for keeping the babies under at the park, at the beach, in the backyard, while camping. first thing i would do is pack a picnic and a good quilt and head to a park…

It was great to discover this product & learn more on the SKLZ website. We’re heading to the beach in just a few weeks, and while we love the sea and the sand, we don’t love the sun and its effects as much, so having this at the beach would be _perfect_! Thanks :D

I really need this. I’m having some skin cancers removed on my face. I stayed in the sun to much in my youth. I am now really paying for it. I keep my 2 and 4 year old GRAND daughters and still have to go out and play. This would be wonderful for me to use with my skin issues. Sign me up!

My son is fair skinned so this would be great to take to the beach with us this summer. I love how portable it is and that it’s big enough for all ages to use, unlike the baby cabana we have, which is small.

I also like the Tennis Trainer that they sell. My husband would like that.

LOVE the Sport Brella – and SO need it!!! We have a new baby ourselves, #3, and many summer activities: t-ball, reunions, park days, etc. – all of which would be MUCH easier with this product! It’s big enough I wouldn’t need to move it around a million times during a game & also that we could all sit in the shade WITH all the EXTRA little ones that seem to join us!

We have so many outdoor adventures planned this summer, but this would be really great for our trip to Florida and the beach and our trip to South Dakota and Mt. Rushmore/hanging out around our cabin. I think it would be good to use as shade when we are at the parks around here, too.

i would use the sport-brella lots of places. At the lake we go to frequently, sometimes there aren’t any places left to sit with shade, so this would be great. We would use it at the beach to keep the sun and wind out. I’d also use it at the parks we go to for picnics where there isn’t a shaded spot.

Wow! What an awesome umbrella! It’d be perfect for my son and I to sit under while we watch Daddy play softball!

Being in Florida-we would get lots of use at the beach or even at parks for picnics. Thanks!

This would be fabulous. I am a pregnant soccer mom and having one of these would be so fantastic for the hot Southern Utah sun!!!

I would use this every day! The heat and I don’t get along, but my children love to go to the park. This would please us all!

Oh man….I love this. I have a beach umbrella that I try to prop up in a variety of ways in my backyard so I have some shade while the kids are playing. It’s a hassle…. This would be such a great replacement!

This is so cool! I would love to have one. Here in Arizona it is hard to get outside in the summertime because of the heat. Having one of these would make for some nice shade in the backyard!

at the beach!!! we go with my husbans family twice a summer and there are 4 little ones- perfect to shield them from the sun!

184 Adele June 3, 2009 at 9:32 pm

Oh my gosh… I live in El Paso now… where the sun never stops shining.. This would be great for just hanging out on the grass… when the sun is just too hot to sit in… Ahhh… I can’t escape the heat here! What a fun thing to have!

We will use this all summer long at the park and pool! It’ll be especially nice to shade our new baby!

188 Jenny June 4, 2009 at 7:24 am

I would use this for myself and my kids at the park and the pool so we don’t burn our pasty white skin.

189 icefairy June 4, 2009 at 8:59 am

We live in Dallas Texas, where the sunshine is really strong in summer. I’d love to use this when we go out for a picnic or simply when my boy plays in the park. Thanks for the giveaway!

I would use it everyday! It is so hot and my kids have fair skin, but love the outdoors. It looks perfect for soccer games too. Thanks.

193 Kristi Scherzinger June 4, 2009 at 1:40 pm

I would use this umbrella for our soccer teams, I coach a boys team and a girls team. We play in the hot sun, and in the pouring rain. I can not haul around and put up those tents, along with dragging a bag full of soccer balls. This umbrella looks like the perfect solution to protecting my players from the elements and it looks very easy to carry and set up.

In the yard on a warm day– sitting out there and reading–

199 Naddez June 4, 2009 at 5:50 pm

I would use it at the beach, at my children summer sport’s events, outside in my front or backyards when we have cook-outs.

2 children, 2 acres, both redheads, no trees……there isn’t enough sunscreen in the world to protect them, I would use this buy their blow-up pool to create shade :)

SKLZ Sport-Brella – I would use this umbrella to keep my two kids (4 and 2) out of the sun.
