*CUBITOS* Dice Rolling + Push-Your-Luck Racing Game

It’s that time again, time for the Cube Cup, an exciting race for the cube-world’s cube creatures. Each race participant gets a runner on the racetrack and a support team made up of colored dice with a variety of abilities and special jobs. Build your support team for more speed with lucky rolls and strategy.

Be the first player to make it all the way around the track and cross the finish line to win!

Cubitos has two double-sided race tracks for more variety and replayability. Choose a card set to begin. Play one of the suggested card sets in the rule book or create your own with the 56 ability cards and eight different colors of dice.

Each set of colored dice has a matching box that can be used for storage when not playing. While playing, the dice go in a little tray at the top of the box for ease of access.

Each player starts the game with 7 light gray and 2 dark grey starting dice.

Turns are taken simultaneously over a series of rounds. All players complete a Roll Phase and then a Run Phase.

During Roll Phase, players complete several steps.

1. Draw: Select a number of dice equal to your draw amount (9 at the beginning of the game, but can be increased by certain ability cards during the game) and put them in the draw zone on your player board.

2. Roll all dice in the roll zone.

Non-blank dice are called “hits” and blank dice are called “misses.” Move all hits to the Active Zone and either choose to reroll the misses still in the roll zone or pass. After rolling 3 hits and moving them to the active zone, any re-roll that results in all misses is a BUSTED roll. All dice from the active zone must move to the discard zone. Dice from the roll zone MAY be moved to the discard zone or can stay in the roll zone for the net round.

 Next up is Run Phase!

Players now all simultaneously use any dice abilities and calculate how much money and movement was earned from the dice roll. Each foot icon moves your runner 1 space on the racetrack and coins can be used to buy new dice.

After all this fun stuff, move all dice from the active zone to the discard zone.

When the next roll phase begins, move dice from the draw zone to the roll zone (up to the number equal to the draw amount). If fewer than 9 dice are in the draw zone at this point, take all dice from the discard zone and place them in the draw zone and continue drawing.

Continue running, building your support team of dice, and earning coins and special abilities until the first runner crosses the finish line and the Cubitos Cup Champion is determined!

This game has lots of opportunities to make decisions, each one affecting many other decisions and creating completely different outcomes. Use strategy, reasoning, and logic to select the most advantageous dice.

Cubitos provides a good opportunity to talk about cost-benefit analysis and some real life-application situations. Practice arithmetic and planning/problem solving skills.
