Mother’s Day Giveaway – Seagate’s Replica, the Complete PC Backup System (CLOSED)
192 comments{The winner of the very popular Seagate Replica automatic backup system is Michelle! She had this to say:
Last year my hard drive crashed on my computer and I lost a ton of irreplaceable things: my iTunes, pictures of my brother’s wedding and my children, and genealogy data I had saved. I ended up buying a new computer but I still haven’t figured out a better way of saving everything besides dvd’s. This would solve the problem since the Replica does it automatically (good since I’m lazy about remembering to do it). What a life-saver this would be if this computer fails on me.
Email your address to kelsey[at]vanillajoy[dot]com to claim your prize. Congratulations!}
Your mother will love you forever if you give her a way to keep all her precious photos safe!
THE PRIZE
Seagate Technology is giving one reader their new Replica 250 GB Complete PC Backup System ($129.99)!
MY REVIEW
With virtually everything digital now, backing up your computer is a pretty big deal. We all have soo much information and important stuff on our computers that we don’t want to lose. If you have ever had a hard drive crash, you know how devastating it can be to make the mistake of not backing up.
Seagate Technology has a great new PC backup system that has several great things going for it – it’s automatic, it’s slim, it’s affordable, and it’s all you need to never lose a photo or document again. I love the slim design – it’s sleek and unobtrusive, fits easily in a drawer or rests unnoticed on the desk. Hard to believe that such a small, slick looking device could hold so much priceless information!
The Replica is an automatic backup system, which means there’s no installation CD with confusing instructions – simply plug in the device to your computer and it installs itself and gets to work backing up all your important files. If you unplug the device in the middle of the backup, it will simply continue where it left off the next time you plug it in.
The other best part is the Replica knows what has already been backed up so you don’t have to keep track! Plug it in every month or two and it will copy all new files. No more making lists and trying to manually keep track of when you backed up last and what is new…that’s a nightmare. The Replica allows you to take tons of photos and keep creating important documents with the confidence that you won’t ever lose anything again.
Because it’s automatic, it’s perfect for your mother who shouldn’t have to worry about keeping track of files or figuring out how to use the thing. The Seagate Replica doesn’t require any computer knowledge. As long as you can plug it in, your files will be safe.
Technology products aren’t usually something you would buy your mother for Mother’s Day, but that’s changing – your Mom will love the Seagate Replica!

I need the Seagate Replica because I, like an idiot, am tempting fate AND the gods by storing all of my two children’s baby pictures on my laptop without having ever backed them up.
I think it’s time to stop living dangerously.
Oh man, I wish we had had this a couple years ago! Our computer crashed and I saved the hard drive so that we could hopefully down the road (when we have the money for it) get the files recovered. All my kids’ baby pictures gone! Wah! I think everyone should have one of these, and I hope to start the wave by winning this free one :o) he he he
Wow – I think even I could use this one! I love how technology has advanced and some things are actually getting easier – which I need! Thanks for the chance~

I absolutely NEED Seagate’s replica because just over a month ago, I got a huge virus on my pc, and lost everything on there!!! Now a thousand dollars later, I finally have a laptop, but what if I lose even more memories with my son? it took that unfortunate experience to really consider that.

This is a wonderful giveaway! It is very important to back up your family memories and store them in a safe place.
I hope I win! Thanks!
I could really use this! Thanks!
I was just thinking the other day about how great and yet sad all of our advanced technology is. It allows us to take so many pictures with our digital cameras, and store so much on our computers, and yet I have only a handful of photos actually printed out! Pictues of both of my kids from birth on are just sitting on my computer! Yikes! We could SO use one of these!

I so need this. very. much.
Right now I’m moving on batch of zillion gig files from a newer drive to an older (and somewhat broken drive) b/c the newer drive is throwing I/O errors at me… hoping a reformat will fix it. If I had a dedicated back up drive I wouldn’t have to move the files to the somewhat broken drive at all! My that would have been nice.
Thanks for the op to win one!

My husband and I just bought out first house so money is super tight. We have all our wedding and engagement photos on my laptop. I seriously need some backup or I’d be completely without these pics!
I love the idea of being able to back everything up easily. I’ll admit that it has always been intimidating and I’ve have passed this responsibility on to my husband. But I’m not sure how much of it he actually does so I’d like to do it myself. Thanks for the chance!

I’m simply hopeless when it comes to backing up my photos, and I store absolutely all of them on my computer at home. I don’t print them out, so this little electronic box is the only thing I have keeping my memories of the last seven years safe. This Seagate Replica is just the thing I need to make sure I don’t lose anything!

I love how the Seagate Replica, the complete PC backup system is so sleek. It’s about time that I started to back up those precious pictures of my baby and family. This would have been so great when I was in college – I had a less-than-stellar computer that crashed bad my freshman year and then the motherboard died my senior year. My husband (then boyfriend) is pretty handy and was able to get everything off my harddrive since my parents had the same type of computer. But that wouldn’t always be possible, and I would have hated to loose everything then – and at that time the only important things I had were my computer papers. Now we have check registers, tax info, extremely special photos, and all kinds of other things on our home computer. This would be a life-saver if anything ever happened to our computer!
My husband and I were just talking about buying an external drive, so this would be great!
Thanks.
Here is my sad story- I lost everything just last week. Fortunately I keep pictures on a seperate hard drive but everything else is gone. I had to take it to the man to see if he can bring anything back. :( This would be so nice to make sure that it doesn’t happen again. Pick me, pick me.

I really need this because our computer crashed about 7 months ago, after our dog unexpectedly died, and we lost the majority of the pictures we had of her. I was going to make a scrapbook and am missing huge pieces of her life we had photographed. I would love something simple and easy to keep track of so we don’t lose pictures of our new puppy!

I need this, as I’m a techno idiot and my husband thinks storing photos on the computer is the only way to go – printed photos have gone the way of the dinosaur at my house. We’ve already had one computer crash that lost irreplaceable photos of our family (the kids, our deceased parents, etc.). The Replica looks like something I could use without reading a 500-pg manual!
I would love to win this:)

Oh I need one of these! I never want to lose my pictures!
I need this because I continually forget to backup – an automated backup would save my bacon!
I need this because I’ve lost a lot of stuff before when my hard drive died – I never want to do that again and I get tired of burning CDs!
I definitley NEED to get something like that even if I don’t win this contest b/c I just know my computer is going to crash one of these days. I’ve got way too many pictures stored on it and I hardly have an hard drive space left. My computer is super slow and that’s probably why!!
Because I did not back up two years worth of photos, when my computer crashed, I lost all the photos. This would wonderful to have.
I need to give this to my Mum because I now live in the US and she lives in Ireland and if her PC vrashes as it has done I can no longer pop round to her house and save her precious photos and films of me and the rest of our family.
I need this because i am constantly finding misplaced photos for my wife. with this she willnever have to worry abour accidental deletion or losing them.
I need the replica as a Mother’s day gift to make a gift to remember.
Before I was five, my father bought a Super 8 video camera. Over the years he recorded our familie’s special moments; birthday parties, the day we brought home our puppy, a trip to Europe (and the Berlin wall). We’d pull the projector out and set the card tables with finger-foods and sodas to show our home movies on the big roll-up screen.
The folding chairs would fill with neighbors, relatives, anyone willing to hear my mom talk through the silent films as my father manned the projector describing Rome, Paris, why my sister was wearing such a funny hat.
As he grew older and us kids grew up, and my parents went separate directions, those delicate films sat in he far back corner of a closet, protected from the sun, dusted and kept clean by the occasional sway of a suit jacket. After a while we lost track of them.
Then when he passed away a few years back, we were cleaning out the closet and found stacks of films with good memories that validated the fact that we did indeed have great times together, laughing and having what we thought were epic adventures.
Then my sisters and I had them converted to digital, the silence covered with the best musak available from the vendor.
My sisters and I now have families of our own, building a new collection of memories for our children. Our mother still shares our lives and is the best grandma ever to her four grandsons, taking great joy in all our shared adventures.
This mother’s day we’ve combined those precious memories from our childhood with digitized photos and more recent videos and will present them to her this mother’s day. A Seagate Replica will ensure her that those memories will not fade or be lost by a power surge.
I need this because I just bought a digital camera and need to back up my pictures.

I need this product because I believe that hard drive failure is not only a possiblity, but eminent. The moment you are unprepared for a failure (represents most PCs) is the moment failure can and will strike. This product eliminates that condition and thereby completely removes the worry and risk
I have SO many photos to back up, I could use this.
So cool, and I love how sleek it looks.
My first comment never showed up, so I’ll try again. I would love this because my hard drive is completely full and hubby and I were just talking about buying an external drive!
Thanks.
I need to win this becasue I am tired of living on the edge with no backup to my childrens pictures. I would be devastated to lose all of them.
I need Seagate’s Replica because it would be a perfect gift for my Mom this Mother’s day. My Mom is a story book writer. What better way can you back up all of her drafts and publications than Seagate’s Replica.
I need this because I’m about to have our first baby and I imagine photo storage/backup is going to be VERY necessary!!!
I need to win, because my computer keeps getting the awful BLUE SCREEN and will die soon, but computer aren’t cheap. In order to save my pictures this would be an awesome prize!

I have always trusted and only purchased Seagate products. I truly believe in the commitment Seagate puts into their products. Seagate will lead the 21st century for storing files for consumers.
I feel this will be a great product to own, not only for our own personal use, but we have many friends and collegues thats always take our advice and go out and purchase products we recommend. I know the Replica would be an ideal trophy!
Happy Mother’s Day to All the Mothers
