Find your luckiest good luck charm and play Truffle Shuffle, a game of half chance, half strategy for 2-4 players, ages 14+, in 15-30 minutes where players compete to build the most desirable boxes of chocolates to sell for coins.

The game is played over 3 rounds and is set up by creating a pyramid of cards with every other row’s cards placed upside down to show only colors, not numbers.

During a turn, players must perform one of two possible actions.

  1. Take a card and add it to your hand. Only cards that are not covered by another card may be selected.
  2. Play a “Take 2” or “Skip 3” card.
    • Playing a Take 2 card allows the player to immediately take 2 cards instead of one.
    • Playing a Skip 3 card means that player can’t choose any cards this turn but gets to choose 3 on his next turn.

There are 4 suits of cards numbered 1-5 and a handful of specialty cards. Eight different order types can be filled for a varying number of coins. Collect sets, straights, and flushes to sell on your turn (instead of drawing or playing a card) and get coins.

Specialty cards include color and number wilds, number only wilds, duplicate number, color change, and number change. Some cards can be played independently, others work to change a card you have into a card you need.

Players continue drafting and selling until the entire tableau of cards have been taken. Once the last card has been drawn, the round ends. Players with leftover cards can keep a number equal to the total number of players and must discard the rest, so don’t wait too long to sell or you might miss your chance!

After three complete rounds, the player with the most coins is the winner!

This game has a unique and lovely theme with beautiful colors and gorgeously illustrated chocolates. It’s a fantastic card game that requires very careful planning, good timing, and a bit of luck!

Using this game in an educational setting or for gameschooling works really well to focus on math brain skills, strategic/logical thinking, and probability. It’s also the perfect theme for an aspiring pastry chef or to compliment a study of edible plants, food in art, chemistry, or poker! :)

Thanks so much to the Alderac Entertainment Group for sharing this fun and lovely card game with us. Get yourself some actual chocolates, play, and enjoy!!
