For the month of December, I want to give you some ways to celebrate the Christmas season. Too many times Christmas comes and goes and I don’t feel like I’ve even had time to enjoy and celebrate it. Filling December with fun festive holiday traditions will make Christmastime a season to remember for your family.

Each day in December I will post some different ideas for things to do with your family. We celebrate the “25 Days of Christmas” in our family rather than just 12, so I’ll be sharing ideas every day from now until Christmas. And there might even be a week of giveaways thrown in there too…

From now until Christmas, watch for VanillaJoy’s ideas to celebrate the 25 Days of Christmas. Please leave a comment with your ideas and traditions!

One tradition we have is we pick an evening and all pile in the car to drive around to see all the decorated houses and businesses in our community. I love seeing how everyone decorates their homes. And the kids just adore all the pretty lights. Such a fun family outing.

One of the traditions that my family does is to go to the park in a nearby town where they have it decorated with these huge outdoor scenes all lit up in Christmas lights. They are in all sorts of shapes and Christmas magic, and each scene is sponsored by a local company. It’s set up so that people just drive through, and the cool thing about it, other than the obvious, is that you get to stay warm while enjoying the decorations, and you set your radio to the station they tell you at the check-in point to listen to holiday music and stories. It’s a lot of fun!

We also have a thing downtown that local companies, and scout troops, and schools participate in by setting up trees and decorating them. There are also all sorts of cool Christmas scenes to look out. It’s called Christmas in the Park. This one you walk around, though so it’s not as comfy cozy as driving aroundn to see the decorations.

Thanks so much!!
