Today I’ve got another CLASSIC game for you – I do love the classics, they’ve stood the test of the time and have some nostalgia to them.

Playing Game of the States is a fun way to get familiar with the layout of US geography, states and capitals, resources and exports.

Players each have 3 “products” they place at random across the board and 1 truck. On your turn, spin the wheel and move that many space in any direction on the board. You’re trying to pick up other players’ packages and take them to the states indicated on your cards.

When you land on a state containing another player’s package, spin the wheel and land on a dollar amount. The player who owns that package can accept your offer or make you re-spin, but whatever the amount is the second time, that’s it! Sometimes you can get more money for the package, but sometimes you get less, it’s a gamble!

After you deliver the package to the correct state, the bank buys it from you (again, using the spinner to determine cost), and you continue traveling around the country, picking up and delivering packages.

The player with the most money at the end of the game wins!

This is a great geography game but there are other skills involved – counting money, trading bills/making change, and adding large whole numbers. I love a game that hits multiple subject areas at once!

Game of the States is a must-have geography game for any Homeschooling/Gameschooling family. It’s fun to play and will make your kids into US Geo whizzes!
