Interview with a 2 Year Old

Kids are so funny, and Elliott’s language/speech has changed recently so he speaks more conversationally and will actually answer questions (sometimes). That’s a real step in a child’s language development. He’s also saying some of his letters better, and I just love to hear him talk!

I asked Elliot some questions this morning. Here’s what he had to say about his life and preferences:

Q. How old are you?
A. I’m 6.

Q. What’s your favorite thing to eat?
A. It’s food. It’s Mommy. It’s salad.

Q. Who loves you?
A. Jesus loves me.

Q. What happens when you don’t listen?
A. I go in time out.

Q. What’s your favorite song?
A. It’s Chile Va God. (I am a Child of God.)

Q. What’s your favorite book?
A. It’s Chile Va God. (I am a Child of God.)

Q. What’s Momma’s name?
A. Hon. (And then he kept saying, “Honey, you need to cooperate.”)

Q. Whose church do we go to?
A. Jesus’ church.

Q. Who is your friend?
A. Noah. Mommy. Gus.

I need to think up some more good questions to ask him. Any ideas?

How about…
How many brothers and sisters would you like?
What is your favorite toy?
What was the best part about vacation?

His answers are so cute!!! I can’t wait for my little guy to start having conversations.

I have recently learned that conversations with young kids can be funny! My best friends 3 yr old says he loves “Mommy and Daddy and Brookie (his sister) and Jesus because He lives in my heart and (procedes to list off all his friends names) and cookies!” I died laughing!

How cute – I love hearing the things kids say! Maybe ask him his favorite food?

I agree with favorite toy. Fav color. Who does he love? My almost 3 year old isn’t verbal enough to do this yet…but soon.

What do mommy and daddy do all day?

That was too cute! What a great favorite song he has. It is a favorite in our house too! I also like the questions favorite toy, color, etc.

My little three year old pronounces his Ls as a Y sound so he will say something like…”mommy my yegs (legs)are getting yong (long), or “Can we go to the yibrary (library)? I just love how kids sound when they are learning to talk not to mention the funny things they say! I agree with the favorite color and toy suggestions as well.

Cute! In the spirit of the theme, I asked my four year old what she wanted to ask him. She wanted to ask his name and if he would be her friend! I love it!! I did a survey of questions to my daughter a few months ago, when it was going around facebook. A couple of my favorite questions/answers:

What is your mom not very good at? “the bathroom”… after more questioning, “you’re not very good at getting Jeriah off the toilet because I always have to”

How are you and your dad the same? “I think daddy be’s daddy and Kadin be’s Kadin. That’s how we’re the same”

If your mom becomes famous, what will it be for? “and if you didn’t clean the table, you’d be famous”

How cute!
Lots of good suggestions. You could ask him : What is your (his) favorite time/part of the day?

when my son was little we would record him talking to us on a cassette tape and add to it every year or so. It is so fun to listen to it now. I think it would be great to make a video of him talking. One way we got my son to talk alot was to read his favorite picture book together and talk about it as we went. It was great. You have a very handsome son! Enjoy him while you can.

What does he think mommy does when shes on the computer?
Ask him to tell you a joke

I love it! I need to interview my 3-year old, he’s super funny! He told me he likes my chubby butt the other day and that chubby butts are cute! Doesn’t get much funnier than that! As for questions….I’m at a loss.
