Happy children are what I LOVE to see, and playing lots of games means I get to see these smiling faces all the time and especially lately with this magnetic sudoku game from Learning Resources. It checks all the boxes for young gamers – the pieces are magnetic so they don’t slide around. This is HUGE! Young gamers are often easily frustrated by pieces that won’t stay put, and magnets are such a simple but priceless solution!

Thirty-six double sided puzzle cards gives 72 unique puzzle challenges for kids (and adults!) to conquer. The puzzles use colors instead of numbers and start out simple for beginners with fewer colors. As the player progresses through the puzzles, the grid gets bigger, two more colors are eventually added in, and the last bunch of puzzles use numbers like official, grown-up Sudoku. The progression of difficulty that adds in new skills is genius and allows this game to really grow with the child!

Two sets of eyes and brains are better than one! Sometimes we get three or four working together, which is another reason we love this Sudoku version. Older children learn so much by helping younger ones. Teaching is learning!

So much thinking and concentrating goes on. Games like this help children build all kinds of skills, academic and otherwise. Persistence, problem solving, quick thinking, memory, recall, deduction, patience, and more!

The outer space theme is so fun too. These little buddies are happy to move and mix those little aliens all day long!

Elementary math skills can ALL be mastered simply by playing games if you pick the right ones, and this one is at the top of my must-have list. The kind of thinking that is developed through playing Sudoku will have far-reaching benefits into so many other areas of education and life! Did you know that playing Sudoku can help slow the negative effects of cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s? So cool!

We have loved playing and learning with this brainy math game and we think your family will love it too. Thanks to Learning Resources for sharing with us!
