We love being outside and visiting National Parks and were so thrilled to see some of our favorite Jr. Rangerland card games at the Visitor’s Centers of 2 recently visited National Parks! Jr. Rangerland has a wide selection of nature and National Park themed games for kids of all ages. (My favorite online place to find them is Rainbow Resource…just a tip!)

Skunk in the Campground is a fun matching/set collection game for 4+. There are jokes on the bottom of each card, which combines two things that every kid loves! The jokes are nature themed and are delightful.

Players take turns taking cards from other players trying to find a matching number to make a set of 2.

All the sets are laid down in front of each player to keep track.

There are reverse cards to change the direction of play and a Skunk card, ew!! Whoever has the sunk card loses. It’s a good lesson – stay away from skunks!

It’s a simple game which makes it perfect for preschoolers and early elementary aged kids. My 4 year old twins love having games they can play with each other without any help from big kids, and I love a game that encourages them to count, match numbers, work together, and that encourages spending time outside!

I like that players draw cards from each other. It teaches kids to not get too attached to game components, which is a valuable skill if you play a lot of games! Kids have to learn to give things up and follow the rules, even if it’s hard!

These guys love Skunk in the Campground – thanks to Jr. Rangerland for sharing it with us!
