I’m the third of 6 children. My religious culture places utmost importance on family, and because of that and my own family experience, I’ve always wanted to have a big family. I got married when I was barely 20, had my first child at 22, will be having my third child just after my 27th birthday this summer, and we’re not finished yet!

To me, being a stay-at-home mom means that my children know they are my first priority. It means that I am learning to be a better person; more giving, selfless, patient and charitable. Being a mom means that I have a purpose that really matters and will change an unknown number of lives.

On the other hand, being a stay-at-home mom is tough. There are no breaks, and sometimes I feel like driving myself off a cliff.

I can’t imagine a more difficult and unrelenting job, but it’s those rare but precious moments with my children that get me through the tantrums and the spewing poo and puke and the sleepless nights and the constant chatter and questions of curious little minds.

For me, those precious moments are the cuddling and the giggling; the pleasure of new discoveries; the sweet and peaceful sleeping faces; the hugs and slobbery kisses; the kind things they do for each other.

Ultimately, motherhood is the fullness and purpose that these children bring to my heart and life. It’s the reason I keep trying, and the satisfaction I get from doing the most important job in the world is worth all the snotty noses and fist fights that money can’t possibly buy.
