Homemade vs. Store-bought Bread

homemade artisan bread

I’ve been thinking – with the price of flour and basically all food staples and everything else except homes and cars on the rise, I wonder if baking homemade bread is more or less expensive than buying it.

I’m thinking about conducting a study to find out the answer, assuming one can purchase bread for $1.09 or less, which is what I usually pay if I can’t find anything yummy on the day-old racks. I always look at those day-old racks and have often found some delicious breads, especially at Smith’s.

Anyway, I like to make bread, and it used to be much cheaper to do it that way, not that I don’t buy most of our bread because it’s more convenient. I would just like to know. I’ll share my findings as soon as they’re found.
