spice rack office supply organizer

I’ve had this spice rack for several years now and haven’t been using it for the majority of that time. I found that I it was more of a pain than a convenience because it took up too much of our precious counter space and I only used a handful of the 20 spices. I’ve almost given it away a handful of times but couldn’t bring myself to do it. I knew that I could find some use for it!

Just a few weeks ago I got to thinking about all the little odds and ends in our office. I was trying to come up with a practical way to store them all so they would be accessible and displayed in an attractive way. I saw the spice rack in the closet and it hit me! I cleaned out all the jars, let them dry, filled them with our office and craft supplies, and voila! Finished!

This little organizational treasure has worked out beautifully. I love how it looks and how easy it is to find things that I was always losing before. Here are some things we keep in the spice rack:

  • safety pins
  • paper clips
  • keychain rings
  • staples
  • erasers
  • mechanical pencil lead
  • rubber bands
  • thumb tacks/push pins
  • buttons
  • brads
  • scrapbooking embellishments

One of my favorite things about this is the little flip top lids on the spice jars. When I need to get or put something away I just have to open the little flip lid and slide it in there. I don’t even have to take the jar out of the rack. I’m so proud of this idea! It’s functional and visually pleasing.

Great idea. I love the idea of the flip top too. I am going to be checking these out on my next trip to Walmart.

I love this idea! I have seen (heard?) of it before and wish I had one that I could use for this purpose. But… right now I don’t have a dedicated craft area and I haven’t even made any cards since the summer because of this reason! Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep my eye out for one at flea markets/thrift stores so I can use it for my embellishments.
