Clean up on NV-140

I first came across this product about 10 years ago. I worked after school, weekends, and summers at the local pharmacy, and the first time I saw this product I thought it was a joke. I asked my boss, the pharmacist, about it and he told me it was no joke, and Boudreaux’s Butt Paste was his favorite diaper rash cream and the one he recommended to his customers/patients.

Now as a mom with my own first hand experience with diaper rash and other unspeakable disasters, Butt Paste is my first choice, too.

Not only does this cream have a memorable, descriptive, and kind of hilarious name, it works wonders on little bum cheeks.

My favorite thing about this cream, besides how well it relieves diaper rash and soothes irritated skin, is the scent. I hate the zinc oxide smell so many other diaper rash creams have. Butt Paste smells fresh and clean – it just has a nice, pleasant scent.

Butt Paste goes on so easily and it also washes off easily, and you don’t have that residual scent on your hands for hours after use. It also comes in a variety of containers and sizes so you can stash a tube or jar in all your most convenient places. You can get Butt Paste in 1 oz, 2 oz, 3 oz and 4 oz tubes, a 16oz jar, or a single foil pack.

Speaking of all this Butt Paste and diaper rash business, is there anything worse than a diaper disaster?

The worst diaper disaster I can think of to date happened while our family was driving from Utah to Oregon three summers ago. Gus was 3 months old, and we had just reached the halfway point of our 850 mile drive. We had stopped for lunch and a quick rest for Boyd, who drove pretty much the whole way while I handled the kids.

We got back on the road and had only driven a few miles on the NV-140 when I smelled something…sickly sweet. I looked around to find the offending object and was smacked in the eyeballs by this:

We had to pull off to the side of the road and clean up this mess with cars whizzing by. It was a 2-person, 4-hand, dozen-wipe diaper job, and that car seat was never quite the same.

The thing about newborn poo is…it smears. It is almost unreal how a little bit of poo can end up all over a baby’s entire body before the job is completely cleaned up. Getting the onesie off…now it’s in his hair and on his face…there is just no end to the messiness.

It took us a while, but we got him and the car seat…mostly…cleaned up. For the rest of the drive we hoped and prayed that the diapers would hold it all in the next time…And what a good thing I took a picture! Now we can remember this experience with fondness forever. Or at least until a diaper disaster that beats this one…

I love Butt paste. It’s my first choice in cremes to have used on my kids. I can’t count the number of times one of my kids had a bad rash going to sleep but woke up healed by using butt paste.

I’ve used barrier creams to help prevent diaper rash. My daughter would get diaper rash if she had diarrhea.

We haven’t had diaper rash with baby #2 yet, but my first had terrible diaper rash. It went on and on for over a month, and I tried just about every brand. I actually resisted trying Butt cream because I didn’t like the name, but when I finally gave in and got some, I felt terrible that I hadn’t tried it earlier! It cleared up the diaper rash that we’d been battling for so long, and you’re right–it’s much less sticky/greasy than most of the other brands, so it cleans up easier, and it smells much better.

I have used Butt Paste before. We were on vacation a few years ago and my son had a severe reaction to the cholorine at the pool. He got diaper rash so badly and we didn’t have any diaper rash cream with us. We had to stop somewhere and find some and thankfully it got better!

We actually use this for bad diaper rashes in the neonatal icu where I work. It is the best!!

My first son had this diaper rash that wasn’t going away, when I asked the doctor about it–he said it was a yeast infection! The funniest thing to me was that he said to just buy some athlete’s foot cream from the grocery store and put that on his little bum–it cleared it right up! But I certainly never would have ever done that or even thought of that on my own!

I love Butt Paste. I tell every Mom-to-be its key to have. I will never use any other brand!

I love Butt Paste! While I’ve been lucky to not have too much of a problem with diaper rash my daughter does occasionally get tender spots. I put a little bit on and it good as new by the end of the day. I cannot stand the smell of other diaper cremes and so the fact that this one smells clean is a bonus for me. I always recommend this brand to new mommy friends.

I’ve seen it, but i’ve never used it. Fortunately diaper rash hasn’t presented to huge of a problem with the kiddos so far.
