Linen Closet Organization

My linen closet has been in serious need of attention. I love organizing, so figuring out a solution for the piles of sheets was a joyful challenge. This is what I came up with:

I love it! Rolling sheets and towels actually takes up less space, and it also looks neater than piling up different sized squares on top of each other. I ran out of ribbon (those little spools from JoAnn’s don’t go very far), but when I get some more I’ll be finishing up with the rest of my sheets and also my towels. I also made little labels to clearly mark the size and used mini clothes pins to attach them.

In the past I’ve been staunchly opposed to impractical organizational solutions like rolling up sheets, tying them with ribbon, and labeling them. When somebody needs a fresh set of sheets, who knows where the ribbon will end up! I’ve finally changed my sorry ways! I would rather have our linen closet look neat and attractive. I can deal with rerolling and tying them if it means my linen closet looks more organized.

I love this! So cute! and your tags are darling. I’ve thought of rolling towels but rolling sheets is a new idea for me, how clever and so much easier than folding.

Such a great idea! I’m not sure I’d have the ambition to do this every time I do the laundry, but it would be a really cute way to leave linen in the guest room when we move into a house (hopefully this summer).

My parents were in town last week and so I had to unwrap a lot of my towels and sheets for them to use. I’ve been putting things back together now that they’ve gone home, and re-rolling and tying everything isn’t nearly as much work as I thought it might be, only one step past folding. When I was first doing this, I wondered if it was something I’d be able to keep up long term, and I think it’s definitely maintainable. However, having rolled and labeled linens only for display is great too! Thanks for commenting.

For years, I made the mistake of buying the wrong type of linen, bath products and other home products simply because I decided to buy from the big and popular names.
However , the love for linen isnt dying as far i am concerned :) . Thats why i am reading linen related blogs :)

That’s adorable! I roll my towels so that they take up less space, but never thought to roll my sheets also.

Wow, thanks everyone! I’m so glad that this idea is helping you out, it has done wonders for me and my linens. I have been so surprised at how much less space rolling things takes than folding. I can fit everything one one shelf that took up two or three before. Thanks for all of your kind comments!

Well, thank you! I’m glad you liked this idea! Rolling my linens really has made a big difference in the feel of the whole area. I used to walk by that closet and either ignore it completely or feel like my whole house was a mess. Now I get this really happy feeling when I see how neat, tidy, and beautiful that closet is! That’s why I love organization so much, because when my house is well organized I feel better about the condition of almost everything in my life. Thanks again for your comment and your Stumble submission!

That is so clever - and what a great housewarming/wedding gift they would make, too!

I absolutely loves this idea of saving space and making your closet look so cute. Has it been hard to keep up? I think I’m going to give it a try. THanks for sharing.

What a great idea!! I roll my towels and t-shirts, but not my sheets. I love your tags and ribbons, too. :)

Wow - how great is this. I love the way it will keep the sheets 1) together and 2) looking neat. Thanks for the tip

Hi. The sheets look beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I love your tags. Do you know what font and/or font program you used? Thanks.

This is very fancy. I would love to have my linen closet look that way. I use my mother’s method of just putting everything that belongs together in the pillowcase that matches it. That way I just grab a pillowcase bundle & all the matching pieces are inside. But, not nearly as cute & fun as what you have come up with!

This is a good idea, even if you don’t label them. You can just leave the ribbon and labels in the linen closet for the next time you need them.

This is such a cute idea. Though unfortunately I don’t have a linen closet. I have half a cupboard under the sink in the bathroom. :) Though I may try this out and I thought I would use those hairbands that are headbands. THey would be big enough I think.
