glow in the dark fun labThe hubbs took the whole week between Christmas and New Year’s off so we played A LOT. Playing with Dad around is always so much more fun.

At our house Dad is the one who usually does the science  experiments, etc. with the kids. I just don’t have enough extra energy…it’s a great thing for them to do together, they all enjoy it, so we all win!

We broke out the Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Lab from Scientific Explorer. We tried out another kit a while ago, the Mind Blowing Science kit that was awesome and I think we liked this one even better!

There are 5 activities in the kit with all the instructions and supplies you’ll need for each. The projects are

  1. Make a self powered light
  2. Make your own glow stick
  3. Create a bubbling light wand
  4. Glow in the dark slime
  5. Make a glowing night sky

Each activity or project tells you exactly what to do in simple instructions that an independent reader could follow on his own. After the instructions there’s a “The Science Behind the Fun” section with some fun facts that we all found very interesting like information about static electricity, atoms, and zinc sulfide.

This is the bubbling light wand, made by combining just a few ingredients and voila! Magic! IMG_5108IMG_5110

We held it up to the light  for a good long time and then played in the dark.

My kids think science is just the coolest cause… it totally is. This kit has been such a fun way to learn and discover some cool science at home with our little family. Science rocks (and glows…)!
